Laminates were originally developed in Europe and are based on a high-density fibreboard core

covered with a visible, outer layer that simulates wood, stone or tile. Neighbouring pieces fit together

with tongue-and-groove edges, without attaching to the underlying floor at all. Original designs required all these edge joints to be glued together, but most modern laminates come in a variety of different install formats, such as gluedown, click lock and floating amongst others.

Laminate flooring has established itself as an innovative and cost-efficient alternative to hardwood flooring. It is a superb choice because no other type of floor covering comes close to providing you with such a wide variety of options, prices, colours and grains.
